London Transport Museum Official London Zoo Penguin Print
Issued to the London Underground in 1921, this official London Transport Museum print was originally designed by Charles Paine, a prolific British artist and illustrator. This work was among 31 he designed in total for the London Underground and one of his most recognisable.
The print measures 20cm (w) x 30cm (h) and has been digitally printed on Mondi 250gsm smooth paper.
Depicting three penguins and referencing both Regents Park and Camden Town stations, the original poster pre-dated the iconic London Zoo Lubetkin Penguin Pool by some 12 years.
The design was also featured on a 2013 London Underground stamp collection.
